After hearing about it on Twitter and my unwillingness to let Tweeters faux-kill another celeb, my heart broke to hear Patrice O’Neal is dead at only age 41, after suffering a diabetes-related stroke last month.
Patrice was undoubtedly one of the funniest dudes to come outta Boston (Roxbury, precisely), he had stand-up specials on Showtime’s One Night Stand back in 2005 and made his debut on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam in 2007. He was also known from VH1’s Web Junk 20, NBC’s acclaimed series, The Office, as a regular guest on Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, radio appearances (Opie and Anthony), voiceover spots (Shorties Watching Shorties). Dude was an immense figure and an even bigger talent. Take eight minutes outta your day and reflect on the loss, but laugh with Patrice in this clip from Def Comedy Jam.
